BAGOUT

Bagout strategy guide

Updated 14 September 2026

Almost every elimination in Bagout is decided by one race: how long it takes you to get home against how long it takes a rival to reach your trail. Each tip below is about winning that race more often, or making the other player lose it.

1. Never go out further than you can get back from

Before you leave your land, find the nearest rival. Every cube moves at the same speed, so if they are closer to where your trail will be than you are to your border, they can cut it. Short loops close to home are safe. Long ones are only safe when nobody is around. Remember that turning costs time as well. A full reversal takes roughly half a second.

2. Your trail is what gets you killed

A rival doesn't have to catch your cube. They only have to touch your trail somewhere, and the far end of a long line is a long way from you. When someone starts heading your way, go home by the shortest route that doesn't take you past them and bank what you have.

3. Punish exposed trails

Turn that around when a rival is far from home with a long line out. Aim for the part of their trail you can reach soonest, which is usually not the stretch right behind them, and go straight at it. If you get there before they get home, they're out.

4. Defend your land for free

You leave no trail inside your own territory, so nobody can cut you there. If a rival's trail runs across your land, drive over it without stepping off your ground. It costs you nothing and knocks them out.

5. Read the storm before it moves

Every new safe circle is announced before the storm starts closing. Head toward it early, while there's still time to claim ground on the way, rather than racing the edge at the last second. Land outside the next circle is land you're about to lose anyway, so don't take risky runs to claim it.

6. Play the endgame patiently

The last circles are small and crowded. Stay inside, keep your runs very short and let other people take the risks. Kills and captures bank a little healing, and one at the right moment can get you through a storm crossing that would otherwise finish you.

7. Practice for free

The free tier has the same map, rules and opponents as the paid tables, so learn the timing there first. If you do play for money, only stake what you can afford to lose.
